Why I Still Love My Profession
I became a dental hygienist because I genuinely care about people. Every day, I have the chance to help someone feel healthier, more confident and more at ease. That remains my greatest motivation.
I am naturally positive and energetic, and I look forward to meeting new people every day. Experience has taught me that good oral care begins with calm, attention and genuine understanding. Everyone is different, which is why I always take the time to listen.
I believe you can be professional without being distant. A smile, a little humour and a relaxed atmosphere can be just as valuable as good treatment. I take my work very seriously, but myself a little less so. That helps people feel comfortable and allows us to build a genuine connection.
What I find most rewarding is helping people smile with confidence. Not only because their mouths are healthier, but because they feel seen, heard and respected. Many patients affectionately call me “a ray of sunshine” and say that an appointment with me “always feels like a little celebration”. To me, that is one of the loveliest compliments I could receive.
After all these years, I still enjoy my work with the same enthusiasm and conviction I had in 1995. This personal, practical and approachable way of working is also the foundation of SchoneMond Experience: honest information, useful advice and products I genuinely believe in.
