Brushing Β· Practical advice

Manual toothbrush: good old-fashioned brushing!

Claudia explains how to brush carefully with a manual toothbrush without using too much pressure.

An electric toothbrush is useful for many people, but not everyone enjoys a buzzing toothbrush. πŸ”Šβš‘

Some people feel overstimulated by the sound or vibrations, need a long time to get used to them, have an intellectual disability or simply do not get on well with an electric toothbrush.

And that is absolutely fine!

A regular manual toothbrush also does a perfectly good job. πŸ’ͺ🦷

Here is how:

πŸͺ₯ Start with the area you find most difficult.

Then it is already done and the rest may feel a little easier. Smart thinking!

πŸͺ₯ Hold your toothbrush at an angle of about 45Β° towards the gumline.

Do not push onto the gums; place the bristles against the edge of the gums.

↔️ Make small, gentle movements.

No wild scrubbing as though you are cleaning food off a burnt pan. πŸ˜‰

You do not want to damage your gums!

🦷 Brush tooth by tooth and take your time.

Move calmly along the outside, inside and top of every tooth.

πŸ’‘ Gentle is enough.

Brushing harder does not mean cleaner teeth.

You do not need to sand your teeth.

Good technique does the work.

Remember

Electric or manual:

the most important thing is to brush well in a way that suits you. ❀️

A manual toothbrush is not an old-fashioned punishment.

It is simply an excellent tool for a fresh, clean mouth. πŸͺ₯✨

No buzzing? No problem. Just keep brushing! 😁
